Shaping wontons with samosa patti

One thing that I am thankful to chef zakir is definitely wontons. Not only the recipe but for teaching how to shape wontons. You’ll master the technique with practice only.


What makes wontons a great snack is the fact they freeze pretty well and are easy to serve. Just deep fry and you’re good to go. Another important factor is it’s low cost in comparison of making shami kebabs or any other traditional Pakistani snack.

Here’s my quick fix of basic wonton filling recipe.

Blend a cup of boneless chicken with 1/4 tea spoon of salt, 1/2 tea spoon black pepper, 3-4 green chillies, a medium sized onion and an egg. The mix should be pasty not dry. If it feels dry you can add more egg. A dash of finely chopped green onions in the end will give it freshness.

For wrapping you need a Samosa patti cut into squares of around 2Ă—2 inches atleast. I usually tell my local bakery vendor to cut them or you can do it yourself.
